About the Author
Rene Wilson
From air traffic control towers to the quiet beauty of the mountains.
The author is a retired air traffic controller who now lives in the peaceful mountains of Western North Carolina. After a long and accomplished career serving both the U.S. Navy in Hawaii and the FAA in Virginia, life has taken a quieter, more reflective turn, one deeply connected to nature. Born in Key West, Florida, and raised in Fairhope, Alabama along the shores of Mobile Bay, the author developed an early appreciation for the outdoors. Childhood days spent swimming, fishing, and exploring laid the foundation for a lifelong love of wildlife and natural environments. Travel has been a significant part of their journey, having visited all 50 states and multiple continents. From witnessing lions and elephants in Africa to spotting whales in Alaska and wolves in Yellowstone, these experiences have shaped a profound respect for the natural world.
Now, spending time hiking trails, exploring waterfalls, and observing wildlife, the author finds joy in the simple yet powerful moments nature provides. This book is a reflection of that passion—sharing a real-life experience that captures the beauty, complexity, and lessons found in the world around us.
